What exactly is the Pool surface coating? This is the last layer of the pool which ensures a smooth-to-touch surface and adds a dense layer on top of the pool shell. This helps minimize water penetration and gentle feeling for all pool patrons.
Often when the existing top surface has degraded and becomes rough to touch or so called course, a new pool coating layer has to be installed. For time and cost effective solutions, the swimming pool industry has adopted a method of pool resurfacing through which the old layer remains and a new surface is installed on top. A bonding agent the so called bond cote is used to ensure a proper bond between the two layers of coating.
As time passes and the number of layers accumulated become too many and adds to “bulkiness,” or becomes clearly visible and unpleasant in appearances, especially underneath the tiles and pool elements ( underwater light fixtures, return jets or floor return plates). Considering that there may be five or even more layers built up on the pool, the very original layers can be 20+ years old. Moreover, pool water can still penetrate underneath all pool layers and degrade bonding agents, which makes it even more problematic.
United Pool Management can help evaluate and remove all excess pool plaster layers from the pool shell through a strip down service. After a strip down process the pool shell can be evaluated for any structural damages. Once proper preparation is completed, a new top surface coating is installed. Pool surface coating can vary in strength, color, finish, and overall appearance which will be discussed with sample access before the final project is approved.
